Sometimes the regulator threads can get frozen to this adaptor and extremely difficult to remove. When you try to remove the regulator this adaptor usually unthreads from the grill with it. For $5 buy the new adaptor in case you cannot remove the old adaptor from the hose. NOTE: a gas ( not water) rated plumbing sealant should be applied to only the threads that screw into the grill.
